Casting Call for

GG&SS' 40th Anniversary Season

Gilbert & Sullivan Are Alive and Well and Laughing at GULC

written & directed by GG&SS co-founder Jack Marshall (director '73-'78, '93)

An original revue featuring Gilbert & Sullivan songs, some adapted to current events, GULC, and especially the 40-year history of GG&SS, performed by GG&SS Alumni All-Stars

For those in the DC Area!

In-person auditions will be held February 23, 2013 from 2pm to 5pm at GULC in a location still TBD.  Please visit the audition form to let us know to expect you!

For those outside of the DC Area!

Out of town performers are invited to submit an audition piece via email or CD no later than February 18th to [email protected], or Jack Marshall, 27207 Westminster Place, Alexandria, VA, 22305.  Please visit the audition form to let us know to expect your materials.

The show will be written with THREE rehearsal levels in mind.  Note that rehearsal limitations will factor into casting decisions.

1 – Full rehearsal schedule. Available for rehearsals beginning March 23.  We will likely rehearse no more than 3-4 days a week until April 6, at which point we will rehearse daily April 6-9, with performances April 10-13.

2 – Limited Rehearsal Schedule. Available for rehearsals April 6-9 and April 10-13 for performances.

3 – Saturday Only.  For those of you traveling from out of town and unable to make the entire run of the show, we’re offering a chance to join in for the Saturday night performance only.  There will be a rehearsal on Saturday morning/afternoon (April 13) and you’ll join the cast for that evening’s performance.

TENTATIVE casting will be announced no later than March 1, 2013.

NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR: The spirit of this show is celebration and fun, not ego gratification. I will assume that anyone volunteering for the show will be equally pleased with any or all assignments, is involved for the right reasons and will be willing to do whatever is asked of them to make the 40th Anniversary something everyone can enjoy and remember.

Thanks for creating and producing this original work – how exciting! Can you give us any idea of the tentative rehearsal schedule prior to auditions? It may help us decide whether to audition. Also, what should we prepare for the audtions? Thank you!
